Plants with Ocular Effects

Plant has always been an important source of ocular medications. Mydriatics including atropine, hyoscine and scopolamine are derived from the alkaloids of plants belonging to the solanacea family.  Pilocarpine, physostigmine and cocaine also come from plant sources. Some medications derived from plants and used for extra-ocular ailments have unwanted ocular side effects.
