  • Allvar Gullstrand (1862-1930) was born in Landskrona in Sweden. He was a lecturer in the Caroline Institute in Stockholm and later a professor of ophthalmology at Uppsala University. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1911 for his contribution to the understanding of ocular accommodation.
