    In ophthalmology, Jan Evangeliste Purkinje (1787-1869) is associated with Purkinje-Sansom images and the Purkinje's shift. The first refers to images formed by the refracting surfaces of the eyes ie. the cornea and the lens and the later refers to the change in spectral sensitivity associated with the transition from night to daylight vision
