Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of central nervous system involving
the white matter. It is characterized by multiple lesions confined to the central nervous system
separated in both time and space. In addition, the patient's symptoms and signs cannot be more
accurately attributed to another disease process. Optic neuritis is the most common ocular
manifestation seen by ophthalmologists.
