Instruments for enucleation / evisceration
(The following instruments are designed specifically for enucleation/evisceration.
Additional instruments such as forceps, muscle hooks and blades are not included here)
.

Curved scissors used to free the globe from the orbit. The curve of the scissors
allows easy insertion around the globe to cut the connective tissue and the optic nerve.

.

Enucleation snare. The wire is looped over the globe and slipped down into the optic nerve before enucleation. The loop is tightened by turning the wing nut.

Elliot evisceration spoon
There are many designs for evisceration spoons. Only two are shown here. The shape of the spoons allow easy scraping of the uveal tissue from the scleral wall.
