Ophthalmology contains many eponyms but not many of us know the people behind these names, for example Doyne was an ophthalmologist in Oxford Eye Hospital and that Argyll Robertson was the same person with double barrel surnames as was the case for Marcus Gunn.
In this section, people who have given their names to ophthalmic diseases, physiology or anatomy are included and where possible the articles that make them famous. If you like to contribute, please submit the pictures of your consultants, colleagues or friends who have eye diseases named after them to chuaoxford@hotmail.com.
I would like to thank the owner of www.whonamedit.com for kindly agreeing to me using some of the biographies. More eponyms can be found in www.whonamedit.com
