Case 56
History: This 38 year-old man presented to the eye casualty with a right black eye following an assault.
The visual acuity was 6/60 in the right eye and 6/6 in the left eye. Fundoscopy revealed a right posterior
vitreous detachment, vitreous haemorrhage and optic disc haemorrhage. The vitreous haemorrhage
resolved spontaneously and the vision returned to 6/6 at the one-week review.
