Joseph Turner was a master of  watercolour landscape. He was a prolific painter even when he
developed cataract which caused him blurry vision. A review of his paintings showed the
effects of untreated cataract from his clearly defined early work to indistinct and abstract like
later works. Mark Twain remarked on Turner's later work as ' cat having a fit in
a platter of tomatoes.'
