From the experience of previous SHOs which are the best and the worst district hospitals
for training SHOs?
This is a difficult question to answer but as a general rule a good district general hospital will remain a good one because the seniors are duty bound to mainatin its reputation whereas a bad one usually improves when the unit recruits new young consultants.

The following units are recommended by junior SHOs ( please feel free to suggest more):

    • West of England Eye Unit, Exeter, Devon
    • Torbay Hospital, Torquay, Devon
    • Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
    • Royal Berkshire Hospital, Berkshire
    • Kent County Ophthalmic and Aural Hospital, Maidstone
    • Lincoln General Hospital, Lincoln
